According to the latest data released by Alphaliner, as of April 3, the number of container ships in operation in the world totaled 6,193, with a total capacity of 24,479,100 TEU, equivalent to 295 million deadweight tons. Among them, the total capacity of the top three liner companies accounted for 45.14% of the global market.
The top three global liner shipping companies are still Maersk Line (4,125,100 TEU, accounting for 16.85%), Mediterranean Shipping (3.9027 million TEU, accounting for 15.94%) and COSCO Shipping Group (3,022,100 TEU, accounting for 12.35%).
Alphaliner pointed out that the 4th and 10th in terms of capacity are: CMA CGM, Hapag-Lloyd, ONE, Evergreen Shipping, Hyundai Merchant Shipping, Yangming Shipping and Star Shipping. Among them, the top seven have a capacity of more than 1 million TEU.
The 11th to 20th places are: Wan Hai Shipping, Taiping Shipping, Zhonggu Shipping, Korea Shipping (KMTC), Iran Air (IRISL), Antong Holdings, SITC International, X-Press Feeders Group, UniFeeder and Changjin Merchant shipping.
Among the mainland liner companies on the list, COSCO Shipping Lines ranked 3rd, Zhonggu Xinliang Shipping ranked 13th, Antong Holdings (Quanzhou AXA Shipping) ranked 16th, and SITC International ranked 17th. Sinotrans Container Lines ranked 23rd, Ningbo Ocean Shipping ranked 37th, Shanghai Jinjiang Shipping ranked 40th, Dalian Tradewind ranked 41st, Taicang Port Container Shipping ranked 63rd, Tianjin Datong Shipping ranked 74th, Guangxi Hongxiang Shipping ranked 97th, and Shanghai Rongshang Logistics ranked 98th.
